The United States Senators voted on Wednesday afternoon to acquit President Trump on two articles of impeachment which were centred on abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

On the first charge – abuse of power, Forty eight senators supported a verdict of guilty while 52 Senators voted not guilty.

Forty seven senators supported a verdict of guilty on Article II – obstruction of Congress while 53 voted not guilty.

By this vote, president Donald Trump has been acquitted of the two impeachment charges submitted by the House of Representative.

All the Republican senators voted in favour of the president except Mitt Romney who voted against his party in the first article but voted in their favour on the second article.
