The Nigeria Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) is not resting in their mandate of raising the necessary awareness geared towards making school children to be disciplined, remaining focus and avoiding any pressure and circumstances that can lead them towards joining cult group which leads to other vices.

This awareness was further raised on the 6th of February, 2019 when POCACOV Ambassador, Kingsley Egbuna Also Known as Didi Nnamen visited Federal Government College, Independence Layout, Enugu.

POCACOV Ambassadors are influencers and is one of the strategies of POCACOV in of getting the message accros to school children, pupils, communities and Artisans, reawakening the consciousness of parents, caregivers, teachers and other relevant stakeholders.

Addressing the school children numbering about one thousand, Kingsley Egbuna advised them to always resist any temptation to lure them into joining any gang but to report to their parents, teachers or principal about any pressure by any person.

He further told them that; “cultism, truancy, Indiscipline, exam malpractice and other vices are things to be eschewed to enable them realize their laudable dream as cultism and other vices are evil and we must have to say no to them to become a champion.

“A cultist always live a fearful life and lack that peace of mind to pursue his laudable dream and by so doing, becomes a school drop-out.

“A cultist is always hunted by the rival cults to kill or maim and finally risk the situation of imprisonment,” Egbuna told the pupils.

In his remark, the National Coordinator, POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu told the students that POCACOV is the initiative of the Inspector General Of police IGP, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.

He hinted that a lot of school/community programmes has been rolled out to capture many schools accross the federation under the first cluster; VISIT TO SCHOOL and Visit To communities Programmes.

“The IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource center Enugu is in liason with the Director National Institute For police studies amongst others for extensive sensitization modules on Juvenile/child crime preventive and safety with huge concentration on parental and caregivers responsibilities.

“We have to raise the awareness, we need to mobilize our people and we need galvanize all stakeholders support towards catching them young, reducing the incidences and menace of Cultism and other vices for a safe and secured society and that is the vision and mission of POCACOV as instituted by the Inspector General of police IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu and it’s operations is in line with the community policing principles and tenets.

“A module is being developed for JSS1-3 and SS1-3 and with the establishment of POCACOV in all state commands of the Nigeria Police Force by the Inspector General of police, it will help to deepen the campaign against cultism and other vices,” Amaraizu concluded.
