Fidelity Advert
Dakuku Peterside

There are speculations that President Muhammadu Buhari has removed Dr Dakuku Peterside as Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and appointed the agency’s former Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Dr Bashir Jamoh as the new Director-General of NIMASA.

Tribune Online reports that a source at the Federal Ministry of Transportation (FMOT) stated that the change is a Presidential order.

According to the source: “Mr President will also name a new management for NIMASA in the coming days. The decision to relieve Dakuku Peterside as DG of NIMASA is very disappointing because he has achieved a lot as NIMASA DG.

“He spearheaded the Deep Blue project which is supposed to tackle maritime criminalities on our waters. However, with this decision, another person will be implementing that policy.”

Dakuku’s first term tenure as NIMASA DG ends on 10th of March, 2020.

Jamoh, a highly experienced and well-grounded maritime expert, is presently the Executive Director in charge of Finance and Administration of the agency.

Jamoh has over 32 years of both professional and technical experience in the maritime sector. He holds a PhD from the University of Port Harcourt, specialising in Logistics and Transport Management. He also has a Masters Degree in Management from Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Post Graduate Diploma in Management Sciences from Bayero University Kano and a Diploma in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, respectively.

A formal announcement is expected any time this week, the source said.
