The National coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) CSP Ebere Amaraizu has commended the giant step taken by the Akwa Ibom state Government under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel in fight against cultism.

CSP Amaraizu described the declaration by the Governor that all cult groups in the state are illegal as well as prescribing them as a step in the right direction. He further stressed that the move is part of provision of strategic leadership.

According to the National coordinator POCACOV; ” I am happy that this is coming few days after the national launch of the police campaign Against cultism and other vices (POCACOV ) by the Inspector general of police IGP Mohammed Abubakar ADAMU in Abuja.”

“The launch is in consonant with the resolve of the IGP to stamp out cultism and other vices amongst our youth through which he charged the stakeholders to rally round the Nigeria police force in its bid to stamping out cultism and other vices in line with the community oriented policing tenets.

“This is a giant step by governor Udom Emmanuel and a good step in the right direction. Cultism and other social vices started one day and will go one day hence the Nigeria police under the leadership of IGP Mohammed Abubakar ADAMU through POCACOV is working with different stakeholders.

“We shall keep on mobilizing our people, sensitizing them and raising the awareness and consciousness as well as advocacy functions.

“We thank God that we are getting the attention of stakeholders and that is the hall mark of community oriented policing.
