Enugu APC Chairman, Left and Udi LGA Chairman, Right

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State has said that “hunger pandemic” is worse than the COVID-19 pandemic currently in the state.

The state Chairman of the APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye disclosed this to newsmen at the party’s secretariat on Sunday, 19th April, 2020 when newsmen came to observe the distribution of some palliatives.

Dr. Nwoye emphasized that after Enugu state was declared free of the pandemic, hunger pandemic is the major issue and lamented that the party has not seen neither the money nor the food being talked about at the national level thus, they came together to help the vulnerable in the state.

“We at Enugu State APC don’t know where the food nor the money they claimed they are sharing is. So i as the chairman and leader of the party at the state level thought it wise to call on some well-spirited leaders and they answered resoundingly and we thought about feeding the poor.”

The APC boss commended the state for their efforts but lamented that the palliatives is shared based on party line when it gets to the grass-root stressing that; “hunger knows no political affiliation just like COVID-19 knows no political affiliation”.

Speaking on the efforts of the Federal Government, Dr. Nwoye said; “at the federal level, there’s talks but we at the grass-root in Enugu State doesn’t see any of those impacts or effects, its just air but the hunger is real.

Some of the items distributed are Rice, yam and egg and Dr Nwoye said they are distributing to all the 17 LGAs in the state for onward distribution to the 260 wards not minding the party but to the people that needs it most.
