Hajiya Aisha Abdusalam on Monday 11 May, 2020, took her charitable activities to ‘FCT Orphanage Homes’, at Gwako village in Gwagwalada area council of the federal capital territory-Abuja.
The exercise was part of her routine activities in helping and providing succour for the less privileged and the vulnerable children in the society, especially in this time of Convid -19 pandemic lockdown.
Mrs Abdusalam, however said, she supported the ‘FCT Orphanage Homes’ with shoes, pampers, mosquito nets, clothes, sanitizers among others.
She said: “I am grateful to Almighty Allah for giving me this great privilege and opportunity to enable me help and support these fatherless and motherless children. Children whom the society rejected. I see it as a rare privilege for me to support them with the little I have.
“We are looking forward for a time when these children will come out of stigmatisation, rejection, and victimisation to become better and respected people in the society”, she added.
Similarly, Mrs Abdusalam said, she always shy away from making her service to humanity public, but just wish to cease this opportunity to pass her message across to other people out there who can equally help and support these young children that have lost their parents. That they should come in and support them.
“We need to help them as an individual and as a government. I believe that some of these children will become leaders of this country tomorrow. We should show them love, embrace them so that they would not suffer the trauma of rejection.
She equally ceased the opportunity to call on the federal government, state government, private organizations, civil society organisations, humanity rights and many others; to look into the issue of child abuse, molestation and stigmatisation among the vulnerable children.
“I am appealing to the federal government, state government, private organizations, civil society organisations, human rights to take the issue of vulnerable children, and the less privileged seriously. They should ensure that the issue of child abuse is put to a permanent end or reduced.
“These are children who don’t have fathers or mothers, some of them were abandoned on the streets, bushes, gutters and any area you can think of. They need to be clothed, sheltered and rehabilitated”, she added.
