Caretaker chairman of the Enugu Council of NUJ Comrade Chinedu Adonu has dismissed claims by the former chairman Rex Arum that government palliatives was rejected by journalists.

Adonu who addressed the media said the sharing formular between the identified factions was the problem as the former chairman who is still parading himself wanted more of the palliatives.

“He even told the government team that journalists would kill themselves if the sharing formular was not as he suggested.

“How can the same man who openly announced that he was the one that applied to government for the palliatives turn around to say he rejected the government gesture.

“When the deadlock could not be resolved the government had no option but return the items pending the resolution of the impasse.

“The NUJ matter which has to do with education qualification is in court and the State Executive Council, SEC, in line with the NUJ constitution elected a caretaker which I am heading.”

The NUJ chairman expressed gratitude to the state government for the gesture and apologized for the deadlock between the factions.

He urged the public to ignore any contrary report on what transpired at the Press Centre Saturday.
