The Enugu State Ministry of Health has announced that five COVID-19 patients in the state has now tested negative and consequently, has been discharged from the various isolation and treatment centres where they were taken care of. 

In another development, the state recorded a new case of the infection.

“The new COVID-19 patient (Case 19) is a 40 year old female, who hails from Igbo-Etiti LGA of Enugu State and returned home from Lagos State in violation of the restriction order on inter-state movement,” Dr. Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu, the state Commissioner for Health disclosed.

The Commissioner also extolled Governor Ugwuanyi stating that his support has continued to help the ministry carry out its function(s) in this trying period.

“The State Ministry of Health with massive support from the Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the State Executive Council (EXCO), has continued to provide treatment for the existing cases, respond to emergency alerts, carry out contact tracing and follow up on suspects.”

The total number of cases for Enugu State is now 19, 6 is active while 13 has been discharged.
