•To kick off anti-vice football match in Enugu

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has stated that the ongoing deepening of its campaign across the federation through community mobilizations and engagement, is in conformity with the community policing principle and practice of the Nigeria Police Force under the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.

This was disclosed on Tuesday by the National Coordinator, Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV), CSP Ebere Amaraizu at the IGP M.A Adamu Pocacov Resource Centre Enugu while reacting on the essence of Pocacov Volunteer Club scheme for safer community/school partnership.

According to Amaraizu, “Pocacov Volunteer Club(PVC) scheme for safer school/community partnership is a community driven activity of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) cutting across all segment of the society and creating a platform of engagement which is result-oriented in terms of realization of peace, safety and security in our communities and schools especially when it has to do with cultism, substance/drug abuse, sexual and gender-based violence, thuggery/violence, internet fraud as well as other vices in the society.

“It is all about community mobilizations and engagement through POCACOV activities such as the use of POCACOV grass root campaign mechanisms like Town Hall Meetings(THM), Visit All Schools(VAS), Visit All Commuinities(V.A.C), Visit All Markets and Parks(VAMP), Visit All Religious Centres(VARC) as well as door-to-door campaigns and the use of fliers, stickers, posters, the new media and conventional media.

“We are also making use of skits, series and films to put the message across.”

Amaraizu further disclosed that the campaign is recording successes across the federation as POCACOV continues to ensure that the supply line and chain of cultism and other vices are cut off.

He urged all to be part of the campaign, saying, “it is for everyone and it is all about realization of peace, safety and security in our environment.”

He added that the upcoming POCACOV Anti-vices football match is to initiate a sound leadership direction for Nigerian youths desirous of venturing into football and sporting activities on the need to desist from substance/drug abuse and other vices to enable them become the champion of their dream.

“We are working with our stakeholders and state’s ministry of youths and sports. POCACOV Anti-Vice Football Match for Enugu state as supported by the state ministry of youths and sports, John Nnam and Friends comes up on Friday 11th September, 2020 at Ngwo Park Pitch Uwani Enugu South Local Government Area,” he concluded.
