The Enugu state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Abdurrahman, yesterday, formally flagged-off the registration of retired police officers on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Speaking during the flag-off event which was held at the Enugu Metro Area Command Headquarters, the commissioner, while describing the retirees as “Heroes of the Force who deserve the best,” thanked the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu for making it possible for them to benefit from the Scheme.

He tasked the retirees to select Police Health Maintenance Organization and Police Hospitals in the registration for easy access and maximum medical attention.

He further urged them to ensure regular washing and/or sanitization of their hands, wearing of face mask or shield and maintenance of physical/social distancing during the exercise.

Responding on behalf of the retirees under the umbrella of Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (ARPON), Omeke Sylvester (ASP rtd.), thanked the IGP for making their enrolment a dream come true.

He commended the CP for finding time to personally flag-off the exercise and his efforts in fighting crimes and criminality in the State.

According to a statement by the police spokesperson, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, the 3-day exercise holds simultaneously in the five Area Command Headquarters from 21st-23rd September, 2020 with the retirees required to present their national identification numbers, letters and identity cards of retirement, as basic requirements for the registration.
