The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) in commemoration of the celebration of Nigeria’s 60th independence has reminded Nigerian youths on the need to remain good ambassadors of the country in all spheres of life.

POCACOV urged the youths to constantly remain law-abiding and shunning negative tendencies such as cultism and other vices capable of truncating the peace, safety and security in the country.

This was made known by the National Coordinator of the POCACOV initiative, CSP Ebere Amaraizu, while giving his address on Nigeria at 60 independence day anniversary.

According to him, “We have come a long way but time has come for us to constantly think, dream and speak peace but we must shun cultism and other vices by constantly focusing on the direction of peace and to be law-abiding.

“We must work collaboratively to promote our corporate image and that has to do with saying No to cultism, Internet fraud, thuggery/violence, sexual and gender-based violence, sex for grade, sex for admission and employment amongst other social vices.”

He, however, saluted Nigerians on the occassion of the celebration of Nigeria independence and appealed to Nigerians to join hands with the Nigeria Police Force through the ongoing campaign against cultism and other vices which was introduced by IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu to reorient Nigerian children and youths thus giving them strategic leadership direction through the involvement of different stakeholders and in line with the tenets of community-oriented policing for a safe and secured community.

“POCACOV represents a new approach by the Nigeria Police Force in combating cultism and other vices in the country through advocacy, awareness creation/sensitizations, mentoring and reorientation. It is a community driven programme of the Nigerian police structured in a community policing manner to involve different stakeholders in our community for safer school and community,” Amaraizu added.
