Participants in the virtual conference and seminar organized yesterday, by a youth-based group known as Youth, Peace and Security Network and facilitated by Andy Iji has commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu and the Nigeria Police Force on the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) initiative.

POCACOV has been described as a youth oriented programme aimed at saving them from the claws of cultism and other vices and thereby giving them strategic leadership direction for a safer community and nation.

The participants also encouraged all stakeholders to join the ongoing police campaign against cultism for youth reorientation and mobilization for national peace.

In his presentations as the guest speaker, the National Coordinator POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu gave the overview of POCACOV and pointing out that it is a community driven programme of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Adamu to involve itself with advocacy, awareness creation and sensitization, mentoring and reorientation for a safer school and community.

He maintained that cultism and other vices has become a global pandemic and requires the efforts of all and sundry towards addressing the pandemic and further maintained that building a peaceful Igbo land and the entire nation will require value reorientation and sticking to the strong african tradition and culture which stipulates that every child is everybody’s child.

Participants also spoke on the need for the youths to be law-abiding and avoiding anything that will bring them in conflict with the law while also suggesting for a strong national youth policy which will encourage proper youth engagement for national development.

Time was alloted for a question and answer moment on community peace building programme of POCACOV.
