The All Progressives Congress, APC, Enugu State Chapter ha set up a 3-man committee to commence disciplinary action against erring members of the party.

The action of the state chapter of the APC is in line with the directive of the National Legal Adviser of the party mandating them to; “set up a disciplinary committee to commence and complete the process of suspension” of the members found wanting.

Briefing Newsmen in Enugu on Monday, 19th October, the state Chairman of the APC, Barr. “After that NEC resolution, the Ag National Secretary of the committee, Sen. Udo Udohan, sent a letter to my office, directing us to communicate all members who have cases in court against either the party officers or the party. We conveyed a meeting of the State Executive Committee and through the office of the State legal Adviser, we made a list of all pending cases and communicated Deacon Okey Ogbodo and co. who is the only person with a pending case.”

Barr Nwoye said that “Deacon Okey Ogbodo and his cohorts which includes; Barr. Chike Omeje, Rufus nwagu, Rev. Onuorah, Ndubuisi Ani, Chinedu Okosisi and Nonye Okoro, in flagrant disregard to the resolution of the NEC failed to withdraw their cases at the appellate Court.

We communicated the list of those that have complied with the directive as well as those that have refused to withdraw themselves from the matter.”

The 3-man disciplinary committee set up by Enugu APC to try Okey Ogbodo and his accomplice will be led by Chief Anike Nwoga, the State Legal Adviser, Barr. BN Nebe will serve as secretary while Chief Benson Eze is also in the committee as a member.

According to the letter written by Dare Oketade, Esq. on behalf of the National Legal Adviser, the action of the party is in line with “the provisions of Article 21 of the party constitution against members of the party who have flouted the directive of the NEC.”

Barr Nwoye also pointed out that the focus of the committee is to entrench discipline in the party and this is what this committee is expected to achieve
