The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) in its bid towards deepening the campaign against cultism and other vices has embarked on ‘School Sensitization Programme and Outreach’ in some parts of Rivers state.

The POCACOV team which stormed NANCY International Secondary School Elele town in Ikwere Local Government Area of Rivers State on the second on the second of December, 2020, said the essence of taking the campaign to the young’s ones is to ensure that the supply chain to some unscrupulous elements in the society is cut off.

The Rivers state POCACOV Coordinator, DSP Yusuf Abdullahi Idi during the outreach spoke on the essence of POCACOV as a Police Programme and the need for children and youths to rise up and join hands with the Nigeria Police Force through POCACOV to say No to cultism and other vices in order to Be a champion.

He also used the occassion to remind the school children on the need to remain security conscious and to report promptly to their parents, guardians, caregivers including teachers, headmasters and principals amongst others on any threat or related threat by any individual to drag them into joining any cult group or getting involved with other vices.

Also speaking at the outreach programme, the guest speaker Esther Ogbonnia, the author of the book titled “WHEN STARS ARISE” and the founder of UCAN Challenge, enjoined the students to always dwell on the right attitude and the need to constantly remain focus.

POCACOV is the initiative of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu aimed at saving Nigerian Children and Youths from the claws of Cultism and other vices through stakeholders participation and involvement of Advocacy, Awareness Creation and sensitization,Mentoring and Reorientation.

It is a community driven and oriented programme in line with the tenets of community oriented policing.
