The President General of apex Igbo Sociocultural organisation, Chief Nnia Nwodo has revealed the role the Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma played in saving Igbo lives across the country during the #ENDSARS protest across the country.

Speaking during the Imeobi meeting of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nwodo said that save for the timely intervention of Governor Uzodinma, Igbos would have lost investment worth Billions of Naira in some parts of the Country disclosing that an Igbo man lost over 400 Million Naira in Lagos.

He said that Governor Uzodinma moved very fast and contacted the Governor of Kano State, Umar Ganduje, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and pleaded with them to ensure that the lives and properties of our people in their area are protected even as some unguided persons from Igboland tried to pitch the region against others during the protest.

Speaking further in the meeting held at Nike Lake Resort, Enugu, Chief Nnia Nwodo maintained that he’s not disposed to any attempt by anyone or group to plough the region into any crisis or war warning that the forthcoming election of the organization should be a family affair as he “will never support another war.”

Chief Nwodo said that two days after the #ENDSARS protests, his house was marked for destruction by the outlawed organization, IPOB, and he had to result to self help to protect his house.

He also encouraged his successor not to support anything that will lead the zone to war

The Igbo leader also dismissed the report in some sections of the media that he asked the Governors to submit a list for the electoral committee stressing that he has nothing to hide and has no interest in the election.

Speaking on Igbo presidency come 2023, Chief Nwodo said that; “far more important than Igbo presidency is restructuring” and he’s happy that other regions are keying in into the quest as it’s not easy for Igbos to produce the next president except the two leading parties zones the ticket to south east.

The high point of the meeting was the setting up of an electrical committee for the forthcoming Ohaneze election to be led by Sen. Ben Obi.

Those in attendance at the meeting include Govenor Hope Uzodinma, Deputy Governors of Imo and Ebonyi, Ministers Sen. Chris Ngige and Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Ken Nnamani, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Achebe, amongst others.
