The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) has concluded modalities for the successful operationalization of POCACOV initiative in Ebonyi State and its environs in line with the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu’s directive towards realizing a cult and violent free society.

This was disclosed on Wednesday by the POCACOV National Coordinator, CSP Ebere Amaraizu while reacting on the essence of POCACOV last quarter activities for the year 2020 at the IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre in Enugu.

According to Amaraizu, “POCACOV initiative is a community driven programme of the Nigeria Police Force working with different stakeholders in line with the tenets of community oriented policing. We have already commenced our stakeholders mapping and this will bring about several engagements and activities segmented in various clusters to enable us achieve community peace building within a short term range.

“Community and faith-based organizations, market/trade union associations, youth-based organizations, parents, guardians, caregivers, ministries, department and agencies will be involved as well as schools, artisans, government and non-governmental organizations.

“We have developed modules for various clusters and we are to work in partnership with the state command of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure prompt and speedy realization of the aims and objectives of POCACOV. In addition, POCACOV will also in partnership with the state police command and other relevant stakeholders conduct one million man march against cultism, substance/drug abuse, sexual and gender based violence, thuggery and violence as well as other vices to create the awareness and help deepen the campaign and generate more stakeholders involvement and galvanize their support to achieve peace, safety and security in communities under POCACOV dafer community, school partnership and community peace building.”

POCACOV is the initiative of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Mohammed aimed at saving the Nigerian children and youths from the claws of cultism and other vices through stakeholders involvement and participation. POCACOV programmes and activities will equally engender stakeholders participation and involvement leading to youth value reorientation, engagement and strategic leadership direction to achieve peace, justice and strong institution as contained in goal 16 of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).
