Lack of self discovery by some Nigerians have been fingered as a catalyst as incessant irregular migration, human trafficking, get rich quick syndrome as well as other vices which usually destroy the future of youths.

This was disclosed on Monday during a virtual communication conference with some POCACOV stakeholders on ‘Self Discovery’ Program of the NPF under IGP Adamu which was coordinated by the National Coordinator POCACOV CSP Ebere Amaraizu at the IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu.

A POCACOV stakeholder Peterson Ojieson and an Abuja-based campaigner against irregular migration by youths, human trafficking, cyber fraud or Yahoo-Yahoo commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu on POCACOV initiative and on the Self Discovery programme which is aimed at making the youths to discover their potentials for societal growth and national development.

According to him: “Many of our youths are fed with information which usually distracts them from discovering themselves as such venture into what they consider as a source of quick living and beneficial to them.”

He also blamed some parents and societies who contribute in the fueling of these vices by silently supporting and encouraging the youths to indulge in any enterprise whether illicit or not in order to make money.

“The society has made it normal and as a culture as well as the best that the only way a youth can earn respect is by being worshipped based on how much money the said youth has in his account and which usually give rise to youth not discovering themselves thereby involving themselves in vices to get known, celebrated and respected,” he added.

He concluded by advocating for a wholesome youth value reorientation and for all to join hands with POCACOV in the ongoing sensitizations and awareness on youth value reorientation, engagement and strategic leadership directions which will lead to youth Self Discovery.

He, however, solicited the intervention of government at all levels to help reposition the mindset of our youths and give them strategic leadership direction for national development and growth and leading to a safe, peaceful and secured communities.
