The Enugu state Taekwondo Association has mapped out a first quarter planned program of action for the Taekwondo activities in Enugu state in order to take the game to a greater height and also to associate the Self Discovery activities of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and other vices (POCACOV) for children and youth value reorientation, empowerment/engagement for strategic leadership direction and a safer and secured community.
This was disclosed on Friday by the Enugu State Taekwondo Association Chairman, CSP Ebere Amaraizu during the Association meeting with the Taekwondo Grandmasters and Coaches held in Enugu on the first quarter year program for Taekwondo in Enugu.
According to the Chairman, deliberate attempts are made and intensified to help implement planned program of action on Self Discovery by POCACOV using the game of Taekwondo.
“We are going to engage all our Taekwondo classes in Taekwondo conference with the theme, ‘Taekwondo As A Tool For Restoration Of Value System’ during which emphasis will be laid on the use of taekwondo tenets to achieve the essence of life coping skill or survival skill, manipulative skills, integrity, modesty, creativity, discipline, strategic thinking and planning which brings about Self Discovery.
He maintained that “some people toe the line of negative tendencies in the society and which has destroyed societal norms and values and there is need to get it right looking at the tenets of Taekwondo which are impact on Taekwondo students especially our POCACOV/Taekwondo kiddies class at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu. The program is going to be conducted in partnership with Enugu state ministry of Youth and Sports Development on 27th March, 2021.
“Inability of some of our children and youths to be exposed to life coping and survival skills, modesty, integrity amongst others, makes it impossible for them to discover themselves for a greater society hence they practice compromise which affects our value system and consequently, perpetration of crimes, joining bad and violent groups and trying to cut corners. We are joining hands with POCACOV because we are partners making a better society.”
