An Igbo organisation; Greater Igbo Forum whose membership cuts across the 5 South East and beyond has called on Ndigbo to take advantage of the forthcoming membership registration of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and form a block in the party against 2023 presidential election.

Speaking with our correspondent over the phone, the president of the forum, Dr. Kingsman Obinna Chikelu reminded the Igbos that they need number to enable them demand for Igbo Presidency-which even his Forum is pushing for as well.

Dr. Chikelu said that they believe Igbos have all it takes to lead this nation and they can’t achieve this if they continue to run away from the ruling APC. He also reiterated their believe in the Unity of Nigeria and dissociated themselves from any group gunning for secession.

His words: “We believe in the unity of Nigeria because there’s strength in Unity. We also believe in equity, that’s to say that every sharing in Nigeria has to represent the six geopolitical zones we have in the country.

“It’s on premise of equity that we are talking about Igbo Presidency as Igbos shouldn’t be left behind. We have all it takes to get our quota in the political field.

“The Igbos have abandoned the APC and that’s a wrong political calculation as we shouldn’t put our eggs in one basket. The insinuation that APC is a Northern party is wrong because even the PDP has a lot of northerners as members. We want Igbos to do away with this brainwash and embrace the ruling party that’s also a winning party. Igbos needs to show strong presence in the APC so that in any national sharing, nobody will ask; where are the Igbos?”

On the possibility of the APC zoning the party’s ticket to the Igbos, Dr. Chikelu said: “We have started the agitation for the APC to zone the Presidency to the South East because this is a simple case of natural equity and nobody will turn a blind eyes to equity and the leadership of the party knows that you can’t push equity by the side in decision making.

“Igbos should mobilize as 2023 is going to be a great a year for them politically and consultations are going on to ensure we succeed,” Dr. Obinna concluded
