The National vice president of Nkanu Youth Assembly, Princess Nneka Philips has resigned her position in the assembly, saying she can no longer cope with the fraudulent activities of their president, Comrade Edeani M. Edeani

In the resignation letter sighted by Journalist101, the vice president said her “resignation has become inevitable” to enable her “preserve or rather redeem” her “hard earned reputation and integrity,” stressing that the the organisation has derailed from their core objective.

She also accused the president of converting what “used to be a noble organization into a self-serving association. Scamming both government and private individuals in the name of our group” and “diversion of the group’s fund…”.

Highlighting some of the misappropriation of funds by the President, Princess Philips asked the president to account for the sum of five million Naira received from the Governor of Enugu state for the establishment of a farm while accusing him of snapping other peoples farm while posing same to belong to the Assembly.

“His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Enugu State graciously approved and released the sum of five million naira (N5,000,000) for Nkanu Youth Poultry Farm at Umueze; Mr. President Sir, where is the N5,000,000 or why is the farm not functional?”

Comr. Edeani (L) and his Vice (R)

“Mr. President, is it not a scam for you to purchase rice from the market, branded it in the name of ‘Nkanu Youth Assembly Rice’? You snapped people’s farm and presented it as Nkanu Youth Assembly Rice Farm.

In the resignation copied to His Excellency Sen. Ken Nnamani Former President of the Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria (Grand Patron Nkanu Youth Assembly); Amb. Gen. (Rtd) C.O Ugwu Nigerian Ambassador to Poland; Director, Department of Security Services, DSS Office Enugu and Commissioner for Youths & Sports Hon. Manfred Nzekwe, she also accused their president of going to visit some individuals with his friends and not the excos of the association.

“Sir, it is on record that you paid visits to various personalities of Nkanu land in company of your friends and siblings though in the name and on behalf of Nkanu Youth Assembly, huge amounts of money was received from these individuals for the interest and benefit of our association. Please, do well to tell the people you govern where or what you used these monies for.”

When contacted, Comr. Edeani denied all the allegations by his former vice and described it as “false and a gang up” against him from some “quarters” he said he’s aware of.

While admitting to have seen the resignation letter, Comr. Edeani said he will “respond to the allegations officially after meeting with some patron(s) of the organisation.”

Below is the resignation letter in full

It is with deepest regret that I write to officially tender my resignation as the Vice President of Nkanu Youth Assembly.

My resignation has become inevitable to preserve or rather redeem my hard earned reputation and integrity. It is important to note that the foundation and objective of Nkanu Youth Assembly is basically to serve and protect the collective interest of our people conversely, Nkanu Youth Assembly under your watch Mr. President has derailed; you have turned what used to be a noble organization into a self-serving association. Scamming both government and private individuals in the name of our group diversion of the group’s fund, victimization etc have become a norm.

All efforts to call you to order proved abortive.
Just for the records Mr. President, permit me to refresh or draw you back to memory lane.

Sir, it is on record that you paid visits to various personalities of Nkanu land in company of your friends and siblings though in the name and on behalf of Nkanu Youth Assembly, huge amounts of money was received from these individuals for the interest and benefit of our association. Please, do well to tell the people you govern where or what you used these monies for.

His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Enugu State graciously approved and released the sum of five million naira (N5,000,000) for Nkanu Youth Poultry Farm at Umueze; Mr. President Sir, where is the N5,000,000 or why is the farm not functional?

Mr. President, is it not a scam for you to purchase rice from the market, branded it in the name of “Nkanu Youth Assembly Rice”? You snapped people’s farm and presented it as Nkanu Youth Assembly Rice Farm.

Sir, prior to our cultural fiesta, we have it on good record that the sum of N5,000,000 was released to Nkanu Youth Assembly to organize the event.

On the fiesta ground, another amount believed to be N5,000,000 was also handed over to you as the president, however before us, you handed the Association’s money over to your younger brothers and directed them to leave the venue. It took you more than one month, after much pressure to tell us the lie that the money was N1,000,000. You are yet to explain to the Association how you used these funds.

Mr. President, please recall that my personal zeal to serve the interest of the association propelled me into mobilizing support from great sons and daughters of Nkanu land. Further recall our visit to our brother who generously gave the Executives the sum of ($2100) Two Thousand One Hundred US Dollars out of which you gave four of your personal brothers and two unknown faces the sum of ($600 USA) Six Hundred US Dollars.

I single handedly facilitated the association’s participation in the African World Youth day on 12th November, 2019 at Abuja, organized by the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports. I equally galvanised financial support from our stakeholders that saved the association the embarrassment generated by your girl friend that accompanied you.

Mr. President Sir, as one of the founding member of Nkanu Youth Assembly and a progressive daughter of Nkanu land, I refuse to be part of these continuous scam against my people, it is against my principle and against my faith.

I am therefore constrained and hereby *resign*

Yours sincerely,
Princess Nneka Philips.

  1. This is quite disgusting and appalling why do our youths want to destroy their future just because of a morsel of less than peanut. Nkanu youth should know that whatever will do today will either recommend us for greater assignment in future or mal our reputation in future. I will encourage Mr president to do well by giving much accountability to his subject as I believe this is more reason this issue is coming up . youth leaders of this dispensation should know that whatever office they occupied in the name of nkanu youth should not be privatized as personal foundation or platform to make money from our politicians. Oh! this is sadden
Snapping people’s farm in the name of nkanu youth assembly rice is fraud until Mr president prove otherwise
