Gidado Shuaib, editor of the News Digest, has been unveiled as the coordinator of the youth wing of POCACOV in Nigeria and diaspora in honour of his effort against cultism and other vices within the country.

POCACOV, Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, is an initiative of the current Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, aimed at sensitizing Nigerian youths with the dangers of belonging to cult groups.

Mr Gidado was unveiled by the POCACOV national coordinator, CSP Ebere Amaraizu in Abuja and nudged to galvanise support of stakeholders towards ensuring that cultism, drug abuse, violence and other vices are mitigated. It is believed that these will save Nigerian children and help create a better nation.

Reacting to his new appointment, Mr Gidado thanked IGP Adamu for drawing up a programme that is targeted at the youth and one that helps them rediscover themselves and the potentials in them.

The News Digest editor said Csp Ebere and the POCACOV team had worked tirelessly to give Nigerian children the necessary strategic leadership direction and engagement through youth value reorientation.

Gidado Yushau Shuaib is the editor of Youths Digest & News Digest and the organizer of Annual Campus Journalism Awards and Campus Journalism Dialogue.

A graduate of Mass Communication from Baze University, Abuja and master’s degree in Media, Campaigning and Social Change from the University of Westminster, London.

At various times, he had interned at Premium Times, Daily Trust Newspapers and at BBC London. He is Director of mobilization, Youth Against Disaster Initiative, YADI, Nigeria.

He had also served as Personal Assistant on Media to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youths and Students Affairs and media consultant to the Mass March for Saraki movement.

He is a partner of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and was a delegate at the United Nations Youth Assembly, New York and Global PR summit, Accra, Ghana, he is a recipient of the SME100Nigeria Under 25 Young Entrepreneurs (media and communication) by in 2017 and Most Promising Nigerian Youth from Nigerian Universities Merit awards. He is an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

He’s the editor of musings of young minds book. A collection of articles by campus journalists who vied for various categories at the Campus Journalism awards.
