POCACOV

The National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV), CSP Ebere Amaraizu has commended the Lagos State House of Assembly members on the step taken to curb the menace of cultism and other vices in the state.

According to the POCACOV National Coordinator the step taken which includes the passing of 21 years imprisonment bill into law for cultists as well as the stipulation of 15 year jail term for anyone convicted for abetting cultists or allowing his premises to be used as a meeting place, is a right step from the right direction and an indication that stakeholders are gradually rising to end the menace which has turn to become a global pandemic.

“This will help to strenghten the campaign against cultism and other vices. What this means now is that those already in will have to willingly come out by making use of the police platform of POCACOV which is community driven to turn themselves into better persons.

“It will also be good if more states join by taking steps like this or more because it is an ill-wind that blows nobody any good. We want all to join in this awraeness creation and sensitization, advocacy, reorientation and mentoring processes of POCACOV in order to save Nigerian children and youths from the claws of cultism and other vices.

“All hands must be on deck for a safe, peaceful and secured society. It could be recalled that the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other vices(POCACOV) has made calls for legislation by government at all levels which will help to discourage cult and its related activities in our society,” Amaraizu said.
