Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, on Thursday, decorated his Principal Staff Officer (PSO), Idowu Owohunwa, and the Force Education Officer, Rabi Umar, with the rank of Commissioner of Police at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Also decorated were ACP (Dr.) Adegbite Tunde Titus; ACP (Dr.) Chinonyerem Lawrence Welle and the Personal Assistant to the Force Public Relations Officer, DSP Aderoju Olagunju, amongst others.

The officers decorated were part of the newly promoted by the Police Service Commission, according to a tweet by the verified handle of the Nigeria Police @PoliceNG.

The decorations were part of the official duties of the IGP, who carried on his post following the extension of his tenure by President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday.

Adamu’s tenure had elapsed on Monday having spent the mandatory 35 years in the Force.

But the President announced Adamu’s tenure had been extended by three months on Thursday.

Announcing this to State House Correspondents after a meeting with President Buhari, Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, said the decision was to allow for proper selection of a successor.

According to the Minister, the President reserved the powers to extend the tenure an Inspector General of Police by three months.
