A youth organization and body known as Centurymap has commended the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu and the Nigeria Police on the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) initiative which has created platforms of engagement for Nigerian youths to work with the Nigeria Police Force thereby contributing their quota to the national security and development.

This was made known today February 23, 2021 by the chief operating officer Century Map Gideon C Okeke, a youth and a writer, when he led some of his executive members on courtesy visit to the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu at the IGP M.A Adamu Pocacov Resource Centre Enugu.

According to him, “We are at the POCACOV Resource Centre to commend the Inspector General of Police on POCACOV and to identify with POCACOV that has been doing a lot of work to reduce the rate of cultism among young people in Nigeria, reorienting them and creating a platform of strategic leadership direction through stakeholders involvement and participation.

“We are organizing Igbo Leadership Summit and Award Ceremony which will take place in Enugu state involving youths from the South East region and other stakeholders to equip and empower the next generation of Igbo leaders, encouraging them to think in line with the global perspective and as presented by the SDGs Goals and also help join in the sharing of idea behind POCACOV initiative which we have found to be a noble project.

“No doubt, the unabated incidence and unrelenting activities of secret cults in our communities and institutions together with the issue of substance and drug abuse, thuggery and violence, trafficking in person, sex for employment, admission and grades amongst other vices have created havoc on the properties, lives and psyches of Nigerians thereby affecting socio-economic development in our our society hence the need to associate with POCACOV.”

He also commended the POCACOV program of action tagged “Knowledge Is Power Program(KIPP)” which is to involve parents, teachers, caregivers, guardians, student, ministries, departments and agencies and other relevant stakeholders across the country, making towards taking responsibilities to get our young ones back into the reading cultures and paying attention to their education as well as life coping and manipulative skills that will aid our young minds in the strategic leadership direction.

Responding, the National Coordinator POCACOV CSP Ebere Amaraizu thanked the youth group for identifying with POCACOV and their numerous planned program of action being implemented for youth value reorientation and strategic leadership direction as well as self discovery and assured that POCACOV will continue with relevant youth bodies and stakeholders in the ongoing nationwide campaign against cultism and other vices while pointing out that the IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre has been working assidiously for the achievement of the development of various modules to be implemented for youth value reorientation and strategic leadership direction amongst others.

“We are simplifying our message to Nigerian children and youths and to other relevant stakeholders. We want our children and youths to always go the right way and excel in their chosen carear and profession and to contribute meaningfully to the society,” Amaraizu noted.

During the visit, books were presented to the IGP M.A Pocacov Resource Centre through the National Coordinator POCACOV to aid in the development of modules.

The books are: Embracing Academic Excellence (A sure guide for achieving greatness as a student), The Flight-Nuggets for effective living by the youths and The Winning Youth-Proven Strategies for Reinventing Yourself and Living Your Best Life As A Youth. The books are all written by youths in the likes of Solomon and Gideon Okeke as well as Ajah, Benjamin Obi.
