The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, has concluded modalities to conduct its community policing activities for young minds under the safer community/school program of the Police initiative “KNOWLEDGE IS POWER PROGRAMME” (KIPP).
This was disclosed by the National Coordinator, POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu during an interface with POCACOV Stakeholders drawn amongst the POCACOV Volunteer Clubs for safer school and community from Anambra state held on Monday, 22nd February, 2021 at the IGP M.A ADAMU POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu.
According to the National Coordinator, “the programme will cut across broad spectrum of stakeholders and majorly the Parents Teachers Association Forum of each school and POCACOV School Fan Clubs for safer schools and to be connected to the POCACOV self Discovery for strategic leadership direction.”
He revealed that the IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre has “developed a module where network of schools will be visited by POCACOV Volunteers to bridge the reading /Mathematics Knowledge gaps among the students. This activity is aimed at awakening the giant in the youth for leadership and value transformation for strategic leadership direction.
“The Knowledge is power Programme (KIPP) is segmented into various clusters and will fall in line with the community oriented policing approaches which incudes: Forum base, Community members committee and Activity base which is linked to the Public Safety and Security Framework of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.
“One of the objectives of the program is that it will enable parents, guardians and caregivers to exercise full control of their children and wards and to help them invest more time in their studies as a solution to better educational performance which will in turn enthrone confidence, better understanding of subject matters thereby discouraging truancy, exam malpractices and other related vices which will be an impediment to SELF DISCOVERY.
“The activity is expected to inject those values and measures that promotes life coping and manipulative skills and self reliance as upcoming leaders. We are going to work with different stakeholders to get this done and for proper measurement of impact and evaluation.
“Its all about value reorienation and its all about strategic leadership direction,” Amaraizu said.
In his Speech, the Anambra state Chairman of POCACOV VOLUNTEER CLUB for safer school and community, Prince Donatus Orjiakor commended the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu on POCACOV as a community driven program and assured that POCACOV stakeholders will continue to work with different stakeholders with the Police for a safe and secured schools and community using community policing tools.
POCACOV is a Community driven program and Public Relations Tools of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu working with different stakeholders in line with the tenets of community oriented policing for a safe and secured schools and communities.It is aimed at saving Nigerian Children and Youths from the Claws of Cultism,Substance and Drug Abuse,Thuggery/violence,trafficking in person(T.I.P) and other vices.
