The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) has charged Nigerian students to remain focus and also shun cultism and other vices or any act capable of exposing them to a state of regret and truncating the actualization of their positive dreams in life.

This was given by the National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV), CSP Ebere Amaraizu while engaging students of the Institute of Management and Technology(IMT) Enugu on 25/2/2021 at the international conference centre of the institution during the students’ conference put together by office of the vice president, Student Union Government (SUG) of the institution with the theme “Students, Wise Up”.

According to the POCACOV National Coordinator, “this is the time to wise up by students as tomorrow may be too late,” maintaining that “if you want tomorrow to be better, you have to challenge today. We must rise up to the occassion by shunning totally those negative tendencies and act capable of ruining our future as young minds.

“We must know who our friends are and must be able to interprete all signs to avoid running into dangerous situations by shunning cutting of corners, exam malpractice, sorting of scripts for monetary gains, succumbing to the temptation of sex for admission, marks and grades, trafficking in persons/smuggling of migrants(T.I.P/S.O.M), substance/drug abuse, violent behaviours as well as internet fraud aka Yahoo Yahoo amongst others because of their consequences which remains detrimental to the future of persons concerned with negative impact on the socio economic development of the country.”

He warned them to be good ambassadors of their various families, state and the country in general and to align themselves with innovations, manipulative and entrepreneural skills which will make them greater and also employers of labour.

The Conference also featured sub themes like relationship, skill start up, security, gender role in societal and school politics.

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) is a community driven programme of the Nigeria Police Force Under IGP M.A Adamu and working with different stakeholders to mitigate cultism and other vices through advocacy, awareness creation and sensitization, mentoring and Reorientation. POCACOV is also involved in youth value reorientation, strategic leadership direction and self discovery as part of modalities for safer school and safer community.
