No fewer than one hundred and fifty female children will be competing in a ‘Catch Them Young’ tournament slated to hold in Awka, Anambra state between 2nd April to 9th April, 2021.
The football event for the girl child tagged “Maureen Madu Kiddies Tournament” is packaged by POCACOV Ambassador, Ex-Super Falcon player and Former Assistant Coach of Super falcons of Nigeria, Maureen Madu to uplift the plight of the girl child which will aid in giving them strategic leadership directions through football engagement.
Speaking with the National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV), CSP Ebere Amaraizu, the POCACOV Ambassador Maureen Madu revealed that she has passion for the girl child and wants to use football to keep them in tune with the reality of life by cutting the supply chains and conveyor belt and to ensure that they are not only prepared for future engagement but given strategic leadership direction.
She said:“I have done the first episode of this all important kiddies event and it was massive with huge success and this will be the second one and we hope to engage about one hundred and fifty girl child. We keep them and expose them to the playing of the roundleather game and we are making progress.”
“My dream is to get as many girl child as possible that can replace us in football and even make more impact. We call on relevant stakeholders to throw their weight behind us for the goal to be achieved,” she added.
