As the world marks International Women’s Day today, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV), a community driven program of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu working with different stakeholders including notable women organization to save Nigerian children and youths from the claws of cultism and other vices for a safer and peaceful society, has sued for more women inclusion to achieve situation of women representation especially in some vital decision making processes as well as political and economic decisions.

This was made known by the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu while commenting on the role of women in nation building which is traced to their overwhelming domestic role of children and youth development for greater nation as ‘No Woman No Cry’ as late music legend Bob Marley would put it.

According to Amaraizu, “strict adherence to gender mainstreaming is vital as no one individual can do it alone and considering the vital role of women and the need for their full and equal participation and leadership in all areas of sustainable development. We need to urgently work towards achieving goal 5 (Gender Equality) otherwise known as Stand Alone of the sustainable development Goals(SDGs) thus empowering all women and girls.

“International Women’s day is a focal point in the movement of women’s right. We have to rise up against all forms of sexual and gender based violence, sex for employment and grades as well as marks, sex for admission as well as domestic violence against women.

“We understand their role in the achievement of peace and stability in our society and their ability to turn around things for a greater society hence their scope of opportunities should be widened for all-inclusive participation in the scheme of things.

“To our women, we expect them to rise above board and never compromise their integrity or succumb to any negative pressures to do things against their will. We also enjoin them to be actively involved in the ongoing campaign against cultism and other vices as they are closer to their children for value reorientaion and self discovery.”
