The Enugu State Police Command has announced its readiness to commence the second phase of the nationwide registration and capturing of its retired officers on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), urging all retired officers in the state not captured in the first phase to take hold of the opportunity.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, noted that “the second phase of the exercise has been scheduled to hold in the five (5) Area Commands’Headquarters of the Command from Monday, 15th to Thursday, 18th March, 2021 by 8am daily.”

He added that “the enrolment is to enable the Retirees (irrespective of their ranks on retirement) and each of their spouses, have full access to all NHIS services and benefits covered by the Police Health Maintenance Organization (Police-HMO) Code – 073.

“Accordingly, the retired Police Officers are enjoined to visit, alongside each of their spouses, anyone of Agbani, Enugu Metro, Nsukka, Oji-River and Udenu Area Commands’Headquarters that is nearest to them, on the aforementioned dates and time, for the NHIS registration and capturing exercise with the following items: a. Letter of Retirement, and b. Retiree’s I.D Card.

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, has entreated the Senior Citizens to seize the opportunity of the enrolment, made possible by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, and present themselves for the exercise. He further calls on them and the organizers to comply with COVID-19 prevention protocols, including hand washing/sanitization, maintenance of social/physical distance and wearing of face mask during the period of the exercise.”
