POCACOV

As part of the ongoing efforts of the Nigeria Police Force to stem the tide of cultism and other vices amongst young people in the society and to further make them resist yielding to pressure from peers and other groups for a safer, peaceful and secured community, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) in partnership with Rivers State Police Command amongst other stakeholders is set for the state POCACOV summit and launch come April 25, 2021.

The National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu made this known shortly after the Pocacov stakeholders/team meeting with the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka in his office at Moscow Road, Portharcourt to interface on the modalities for a successful POCACOV summit and launch.

Earlier during the meeting, Amaraizu thanked the commissioner of police for the warm reception accorded to the group.

Adding his voice, the Rivers state Chairman of the POCACOV Volunteer Club, Amb. Onwuka Eke thanked the commissioner of police for his fatherly role and support which has taken the campaign against cultism and other vices to an enviable height.

He informed the commissioner that the state Police Public Relations Officer SP Nnamdi Omoni and the State Pocacov Coordinator, DSP Abdullahi Yusuf Idi have been resourceful in giving the required direction in the ongoing campaign.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka assured Amaraizu and his team of the command’s support and partnership for a successful POCACOV summit and launch.

He also expressed displeasure on youth involvement in cultism which has claimed many lives and maimed many while their future are shattered, pointing out that cultism is the link to many violent crimes and urged all to join hands in the campaign against cultism and other vices.

Applauding the efforts of POCACOV stakeholders/volunteers in the state, Eboka pointed out that they have been campaigning tirelessly to ensure that our youths stay away from cultism and other vices for a safe, peaceful and secured community.

POCACOV is a community driven program of the Nigeria Police Force involving different stakeholders and structured in line with the tenets of the community oriented policing. POCACOV as a community policing and public relations tools to campaign against cultism and other vices is further involved in process of advocacy, awareness creation and sensitization, mentoring and reorientation.
