As part of the ongoing efforts of the Nigeria Police Force towards enhancing stakeholders/community engagements to deepen the campaign against cultism and other vices and to foster community peace building and robust relationship between the police and its various publics, the executives of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) Volunteer Clubs of Anambra State on Tuesday, engaged with executives and members of the Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Anambra state at their ASATU hall Government House, Awka.

The meeting with ASATU executives and members coincided with their monthly meeting which also took place at the same venue.

In his opening remarks, the state chairman of the POCACOV Volunteer Club for safer community, Prince Donatus Orjiakor thanked the forum and informed the gathering on the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force to work closely with policing stakeholders to mitigate cultism, violence and other vices to enhance community peace, safety and security.

He informed them on POCACOV and its wide range of convivial and mouth watering activities aimed at saving Nigerian youths and children from the claws of cultism and other vices through constant stakeholders engagement and participation, pointing out that POCACOV is a community driven program of the Nigeria Police Force and a public relations tools involved in advocacy, awareness creation, sensitization, mentoring and reorientation and involving different stakeholders.

He went further to explain to the gathering how POCACOV activities and program can effectively be implemented in all the communities and towns in Anambra state to enhance peaceful coexistence, safety and security since police cannot be separated from the public.

Responding on behalf of members and executives of the Association of Town Unions(ASATU), the president Barrister Akpudo Titus Nnabuike appreciated the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in coming out with a friendly and community driven program to advocate and sensitize members of the community constantly on the dangers of cultism, acts of violence and other vices through the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices.

He also thanked the State Chairman of the POCACOV Volunteer Club, the state Coordinator of POCACOV SP Chukwudi Okorogu Anambra state and other members of the POCACOV teaam for the job they are doing and assured of the Association readiness and willingness to support POCACOV and to ensure that it is established in all the Anambra communities and towns for constant sensitization and awareness.

The State Chairman of POCACOV and the State Coordinator of POCACOV were all accompanied to the Town hall meeting between POCACOV and ASATU by a community leader and a POCACOV Stakeholder and Patron Chief Arinze Ekelem, Lynda Chukwuma and Comrade Okadigbo.

In another development, all is set for the inauguration of the POCACOV Religious Leaders Consultative Forum for safer community as well as POCACOV Advisory Board in Anambra state on 8th May, 2021 in Awka by the Chairman of the Advisory Board, His Lordship, Most Rev Dr.Paulinus Ezeokafor and the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese.

The inauguration of the body will enhance robust participation of religious and community leaders in the ongoing campaign by the Nigeria Police Force against cultism, violence and other vices.
