Former President Muhammadu Buhari

The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo, has urged the President Muhammadu Buhari to implement several resolutions of the National Assembly on the control of small arms and light weapons as a step towards stopping insecurity in the country.

He also called on Nigerians to support the security agencies in the country by being security concious and sensitive to their environment.

Onuigbo, who spoke in Umuahia the Abia state capital shortly after commissioning a 500 KVA transformer he attracted to his constituents in Ikwuano Local Government, said Nigeria was on the brink of total collapse if serious actions were not taken to check the current trends of insecurity.

He said, “Despite the fact that we have passed many resolutions for the control of small arms, all hands must be on deck to correct all the security anomalies in the country.

“Nobody is happy about where we are now, that is why the executive arms of government must act fast on protecting the people because the primary responsibility of every government is the safety of its citizens.

“If our security challenges goes beyond its current level, it will not be easy for us as a Nation. If we allow the cases of banditry, insurgency, armed robbery and kidnapping to go out of control from what we have now, nobody will be safe again”.
