Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state was today awarded the “COVID-19 Response Champion” by the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN).
The award ceremony which held during the 15th National Annual Public Health Lecture Series of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria today, May 20, 2021 at Chida hotel, Utako District, Abuja had Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director General of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control as the guest speaker of the event and Sen. Dr. Ibrahim Oloriebe, the Chairman Senate Committee on Health (Sec. and Tertiary) as the Chairman of the Occasion. Many top government functionaries and Scientists in the country were also in attendance.
Presenting the award to Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the President of the associatio, Prof. James Garba Damen stated that the award is well deserved by the governor following his sterling performance and discharge of duties during the period the COVID-19 ravaged the globe.
In his words “Your Excellency, We didn’t choose you because just for the sake of choosing you, we chose you because we carefully monitored your administration’s activities and response rate in the heat of the pandemic, we monitored how you deployed resources swiftly, trained health care givers and enlightened the public, all these indices informed our decision honour you today. We wish to encourage you to keep showing diligence to duty demonstrating great empathy to people’s safety”.
Receiving the award from the Association, Gov. Ugwuanyi who was represented by his Special Assistant, Hon. Ilogebe Chidi, thanked the association graciously for taking out time to identify and encourage him for the works he has done so far. He promised not to rest on his oars and achievements but will keep striving to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Enugu. It is indeed a call for more work.
