At least one gunman has been killed as security operatives foiled an attack on Imo State Police Command Headquarters and other institutions in Owerri on Sunday morning.
In a video sighted by Journalist101, the development caused panic in Owerri as repeated gunshots rent the air.
While security operatives took over almost all the streets and roads in the state capital, residents who were on their way for early morning church services ran halter-skelter.

In the same Imo, the home of the Commissioner for Information, Hon Declan Emelumba was razed by unknown gunmen.
The gunmen attacked his Community Ubulu-Ihejiofor in Oru West L.G.A in the early hours of Sunday and set the two houses in his compound ablaze.
Heavy shooting was reported in the hitherto peaceful Community as villagers ran into the bushes for fear
“It was a terrific night. Nobody slept last night. People are just coming out from the bushes. The shooting was so much and people had to take cover in the bushes.’
When contacted the Commissioner Hon Emelumba confirmed the attack.
Everyday News reports that soldiers are already being moved into the community.
Recall that three days ago, gunmen attacked the neighbouring Community, Ibiasoegbe killing 3 persons including a policeman.
