…requests 95,000 from shop owners in the area to evacuate the corpse.

There’s a serious tension at Bewak area of Trans Amadi industrial layout, Port Harcourt as a yet to be identified man collapsed and died in a motor spare parts shop in the area.

The man, an eyewitness told Journalist101 came to buy fan belt for his car in the shop and as he was being asked the number on the fan belt, he collapsed and died on the spot.

The eyewitness told our correspondent that: “The shop owner, one Kelechi quickly rushed to Police station to report that someone has died in his station.

“When the Policemen arrived, they quickly arrested the Driver who brought the deceased to the shop to buy the fan belt, arrested the mechanic the man brought and the shop owner.”

“The police searched the man and discovered his drivers license. They also demanded that the shop owners must give them 95,000 to Evacuate the corpse,” the source said.

Journalist101 gathered that the police later discovered the vehicle the man was driving at Garrison area of Port Harcourt.

It was also gathered that the deceased is a driver to big madam who was waiting for him to return and fix the vehicle which the fan belt cut. The vehicle is a Sequia V8 jeep.

The police have moved the Madam and her daughter to Mecheline Police station.

The police we learnt is yet to evacuate the corpse while contribution by the shop owners in the place is ongoing.

As at the time of filing in this report, the identity of the man is yet to be established and all the persons arrested are still in detention.

  1. Very sad. RiP to the dead but why arrest those arrested? For additional revenue to the irresponsible levy on the hapless traders, if true. BEWAC is not a major Spareparts hub and they are expected to cough out such a huge amount
