Omoyele Sowere, the publisher Sahara Reporters publisher has called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu who the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami said was “arrested through the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services.

“He has been brought back to Nigeria in order to continue facing trial after disappearing while on bail regarding 11 count charge against him,” Malami said.

In his reaction, Sowore, via his twitter page on Tuesday, called on the Nigerian Government to release Kanu stressing that agitation for self-determination is not a crime.

He tweeted: “#FreeKanu Now! Asking for self determination is not a crime!”

Journalist101 earlier reported that the DSS through her counsel, Labaran had applied to the court for an order to remand Kanu in the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS).

The counsel said the request became imperative because lawyers to Kanu were yet to be abreast of his re-arrest.

Justice Binta Nyako granted the request and ordered that Kanu be remanded in the custody of DSS till July 26 for the continuation of his trial.
