The Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB; the highest decision making organ of the Pro Biafra organisation, has described the arrest of her leader, Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Government of Nigeria an act of kidnap.

The Nigerian government has not named the country where Kanu was arrested, with Abubakar Malami, the attorney-general of the federation, just saying he was “intercepted” and extradited to Nigeria.

But his brother, Emmanuel Kanu in a statement said Nnamdi Kanu was unlawfully arrested in Kenya, detained and was subsequently extracted from the country to Nigeria where he is now detained.

However, Mazi Chika Edoziem, the Head of Directorate of IPOB in a memo to their members on 30th, June 2021 said their leader was abducted in an East Africa Country and assured they will make the name of the country public soon.

Mazi Edoziem also called on their members to remain calm and focused on their “fundamental objective.”

“The Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra wish to inform the IPOB families worldwide of the abduction of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the Nigerian government working in evil alliance with an East African Country. We shall make the name of this country public in due course.

“The Directorate hereby direct all IPOB family members to remain focused on our fundamental objective which is a Free, Sovereign and Independent Biafran Nation. while waiting for further directives from the Directorate of State, we must guard against any form of distraction or indiscipline creeping in to taint the duties assigned to us individually and collectively by our leader Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The leadership will provide updates on Onyendu’s Kidnap as well as other pertinent information to the IPOB worldwide family and to the International Community as these become available.
