Hon Chima Obieze, the lawmaker representing Ezeagu constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly has taken the reward for loyalty, empowerment and support to another level by gifting plots of lands to his Aides, political Associates and constituents.
Hon Obieze while presenting the land allocation papers and deed of assignment to the beneficiaries at his Enugu house on Saturday, 3rd July, disclosed that the lands are located within the Enugu metropolis.
Speaking on the choice of land, Hon. Obieze who is the leading Human development and empowerment Lawmaker in Enugu State stated that he’s borrowing a leaf from the life style of Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who has over the time, proven that his belief in human development is unshakeable and can go to any length to make others comfortable no matter the cost on him.
“We were thought that the basic needs of a man are food, clothing and shelter. I believe that one of the ways to help the beneficiaries secure a permanent future for themselves is to give them a space where they can have shelter no matter how little, for themselves and as well, save them from the troubles of house rents, landlord and co-tenants.”
Describing his choice of the beneficiaries, Obieze said: “First, they’re family men and secondly, they’re people, who have been very consistent with their support for myself and their desire to make Ezeagu constituency move forward. They’re people who are enthusiastic, responsible and supportive. So, I feel this is one of the ways to reward people their standing.”
Asked if there’s any condition attached to the land, Obieze who’s also the Chairman, House Committee on Works, Housing and Urban Development, said the beneficiaries are at liberty to use the land for any purpose they wish and can also sell it if they so wish provided they will make judicious use of the proceed.
“I don’t care what they intend to do with it, I have given it to them. But my advise is that they should make the best out of it.”
One of the beneficiaries, Ndum Onyeka from Akama-Oghe who spoke on behalf of the others expressed his innermost joy for the gesture by Hon. Obieze and assured that they will make the judicious use of it.
“What Hon. Obieze have done today is a reminder that loyalty, faith and support without blemish doesn’t go unrewarded. We are totally speechless because we never saw this coming and was eternally grateful for this gift which has changed our stories for good.
“We also thank the Executive Governor of the state who has been very intentional in support for the youths assuming elective positions. The gift today is a proceed of such support,”Ndum said.
The other beneficiaries are Ofodile Onyeka Emmanuel from Ezema Olo and Igboeme Sabastine from Amankwo- Ndiagu.
This gesture is just one amongst the various human capital development by Hon. Obieze, just recently, he dolled out the sum of N2m to support traders in his constituency. A lot of students are on scholarship courtesy of him and widows in Ezeagu local government aren’t left behind.
