•As Gov Ugwuanyi’s aide, NACESS President, others honoured in Calabar
The Traditional Ruler of the Igbo Community in Cross River State, His Royal Highness Igwe Dr Emmanuel Ezenwenyi, Eze Ana Emenwu Oku Ona Enwu Enwu (Eze Ndigbo Na Cross River State) has extolled the leadership style of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
The monarch also described Ugwuanyi as the best governor in Nigeria.
The monarch gave the commendation in his palace in Calabar on Sunday when the Special Assistant to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Monday Diamond Ani in company of Comr. Onah Joseph Onyemaechi, the National President of the National Council of Enugu State Students (NACESS), Prince Tochukwu Nwanjoku, the President Enugu State Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative and other Enugu State student leaders in Cross River State paid a courtesy visit to the Traditional Ruler following the Cultural Day Festival organized by the NACESS UNICAL chapter at the Cross River State municipal centre.
Earlier on Saturday 3rd of July, the NACESS UNICAL chapter under the leadership of Comr Odenigbo organized a Cultural Day Festival to promote the Igbo cultural heritage and honoured some outstanding Igbo citizens in Calabar, in which Hon Monday Diamond Ani, Comr Onah Joseph, Hon Prince Tochukwu Nwanjoku, Prof Chris Chukwura, Prof Cecilia Ekwueme, Prof Uche Amalu(Fmr VC Unical) and others were all honoured with the humanitarian services awards.
At the palace of the Igwe, while making an open remarks, Ani on behalf of the Governor, commended the traditional ruler for his untireless efforts towards the defense of Ndigbo as well as upholding the traditional integrity and cultural heritage of the Igbo Nation in far away Cross River State.
Hon. Ani who also presented an Award of Excellence to Igwe Emmanuel Ezenwenyi on behalf of NACESS UNICAL chapter reminded the Igwe and his cabinet members of the outstanding leadership and numerous achievements of the Enugu state governor, especially as it concerns peace, security, youth inclusion and economic progress of Enugu State and as well appealed to them to always come to Enugu State for business and relaxation purposes, adding that Enugu State is the safest State in Nigeria with an economic ease of doing business.
The National President of NACESS, Comr. Onah Joseph in his speech unveiled the numerous bursary cum scholarship programs of Gov Ugwuanyi through the Enugu State Scholarship and Loan Board.
In response, the Anambra-born Igwe Emmanuel Ezenwenyi who heartily welcomed the SA to the Governor and other delegates, expressed gratitude and eulogized the Executive Governor of Enugu State for his leadership style and uniqueness, singling him out from other Governors and describing him as the best Governor in Nigeria.
In his words, “that man, the Enugu State Gov is a fine gentleman who is so outstanding as a Governor, even though Enugu State is a non-oil producing state, yet he performs wonders; he manages the people and economy of his state very well and this has made him the Best Governor in Nigeria.”
Present at the palace were the President General of the Igbo Community in Cross River State, Pharm Sam Onyeka, Chairman Ohaneze Ndigbo Cross River State Chief Festus Odoemena and Members of the Igwe-in-Council.
