Members of the House of Representatives at plenary

The minority caucus of the House of Representatives has walked out of the Committee of the Whole considering the report of the Electoral Bill.

This is because of Deputy Speaker, Wase’s insistence that clause 52(2) cannot be debated again.

The caucus is currently briefing the Press on the electronic transmission of election results.

The House adopted the controversial electronic and manual transmission of results where applicable.

Also, The House of Representatives adopted the report of the conference committee on the Petroleum Industry Bill.

The report was laid shortly after members of the minority caucus walked out of the chamber in protests against refusal to allow an amendment to Section 52(2) of the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill.

The report was considered, while the opposition lawmakers were addressing journalists at the Press Centre over the Electoral bill.
