Youths Initiative for Peace, Justice and Reorientarion (YIPJAR); a registered youth based non-governmental organisation, has expressed deep displeasure over the position of majority of Nigerian Lawmakers at the National Assembly on the debate for electronic transmission of election results.

Last week, the Senate passed the electoral amendment bill with a section of the bill preventing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC from transmitting election results instantly but seek clearance from the Nigerian Communication Commission and the NASS.

In a statement signed by Engr. Lawrence Uzor, the National Chairman of YIPJAR, the group said the sole reason for the action of the majority of the lawmakers is to aid them “continue to manipulate elections results at will thereby denying the youths the golden opportunity to enjoy what they the public office holders are enjoying.”

Lawrence Uzor enjoined the youths to note the lawmakers that voted against the Bill and ensure that they are not returned to office as they are obviously an enemy and don’t deserve the office they occupy.

“We are particularly disappointed by every member of NASS who voted against it on whatever flemzy excuses he/she may have adduced. Every well meaning NASS member will not think twice to vote in favour of the bill.

“The only reason we know for the action of such NASS members who voted NO, is to continue to manipulate elections results at will thereby denying the youths the golden opportunity to enjoy what they the public office holders are enjoying. It is their plans to continue to enslave the youths politically and economically.

“We however call on the youths to know that such NASS members are anti youths and anti Nigerians and are their to represent their personal interests not the interests of the people. Such a member should never be supported by any well meaning Nigerian youth in any future election. Let us come together and stop such people from perpetuating themselves in office.

YIPJAR charged the youths to participate actively in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration process and thus vote wisely in future elections and shun praise singing, sycophancy, greed, and selfishness as these characters have kept the youths into chronic hardship, deprivation and political slavery.

Journalist101 recalls that YIPJAR; which was registered in 2011 is geared towards uniting the youths for a better and greater nation building devoid of ethnic, religious and partisan sentiments and affiliations has been matching action with words in lifting the youths out of poverty.
