Live from Enugu State High Court where the suspects; Chiamaka Ifezue and Emeka Ifezue alleged to have been responsible for the murder of one Ijeoma Nneke, a make-up artist based in Enugu are being tried for the commencement of their trial.

The suspects are yet to be seen in the court where they are supposed to appear before Justice K.I Okpe of court Six.

The siblings and relatives of the deceased are already in court premises with placards demanding for justice.

WHAT HAPPENED TO IJEOMA NNEKE?

Journalist101 recalls that On Wednesday, 11th November 2020 the deceased, Ijeoma who’s a makeup artist was booked for a makeup job in an undisclosed location but was told to just get to ESBS bus stop and will be picked up from there after which she was found dead.

Nnamdi Nneke, a brother to the deceased said they learnt that their sister was sedated by the suspect and her brother (now co-suspect) who helped in forcing a poisoned substance down her throat because according to them, Ijeoma was in a relationship with the supposed boyfriend of one of the suspects. The relationship between Chiamaka and the youngman in the mix was unknown to the deceased.

He said that when Ijeoma suspected that all wasn’t well, “she sent an SMS to her colleague and through the use of technology (phone tracking), the suspects were arrested.

“They called her to come for a make-up job which was a fake job because there was no job. When she got to the venue, she was locked up, drugged and was killed by pouring acid on her body,” the deceased brother said.

The history of the case

Journalist101 recalls that the Chief Magistrate Grade I, Enugu North Magisterial District, His Worship, J.I Agu had ordered that Ifezue Chiamaka and her brother, Ifezue Emeka from Urualla, Ideato North local government in Imo State be remanded in Enugu Correctional facility for the alleged murder of Ijeoma Nneke, a 27-year-old Make-up artist based in Enugu on 11th November, 2020.

The duo was charged on two-counts charges of conspiracy and murder as well as forcing the deceased to drink a substance believed to be poisoned after which they poured acid on her.

During the remand proceeding, the matter was adjourned to February 24th, 2021.

On February 24th, the Chief Magistrate, His Worship, J.I Agu adjourned the matter to 21st April, 2021 because the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) haven’t filed their information on the matter to enable his court give the venue of the appropriate court that will handle the matter.

The Prosecuting counsel, CSP Chike Nwachukwu said what happened in court today isn’t out of ordinary because it’s in “tandem with the rule of law and the adjournment of the case after the remand proceedings is to give a time for the court to be updated on what the Attorney General and the DPP has done as to filling of information at the appropriate court.”

The state through the Ministry of Justice is expected to take over the case once the DPP finish the vetting of the case file, he will file the case at the appropriate court; High Court.
