Eighteen members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Niger State have been confirmed with COVID-19 positive.
Their status was confirmed after the Ministry of Health conducted its compulsory COVID-19 testing on them.
Niger Commissioner of Information, Sani Idris who disclosed this to newsmen in Minna, said government has decided to resuscitate the State COVID-19 task force and ensure safety protocols are resuscitated.
“We agreed that the state government would resuscitate the Taskforce on Covid 19 to resuscitate the COVID-19 protocols as an immediate action.
“Nobody would have access to all public offices without wearing of facemasks. All heads of Ministries, Departments, and Parastatals have been directed to provide handwashing facilities,” he stressed.
The Commissioner further said there would be a massive sensitisation campaign and the Taskforce would ensure that the COVID-19 safety protocols would be observed to the fullest.
