The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has disclosed her readiness in seeking for means Nigeria can return to winning ways in the game of Boxing.

The National Coordinator of POCACOV, Csp, Ebere Amaraizu stated this on Saturday, 27th August, 2021 the indoor Sports hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu, on the occasion to mark the celebration of AIBA international Boxing day which also coincided with the ongoing Boxing Referee and Judges Course in Enugu.

Amaraizu, who is also the Enugu state Chairman of the Boxing Association Nigeria said POCACOV through her self discovery and talent search as contained in the ‘POCACOV Neigbourhood (OGBE) Games’ will work with relevant stakeholders to achieve this.

He stressed that “POCACOV Neigbourhood (OGBE) Games is for value reorientation, Self Discovery and Strategic Leadership direction and is a deliberate attempt geared towards restoration of Nigeria’s lost glory in the game of sport, boxing inclusive.

“The initiative by POCACOV is deliberate and designed to draw up a platform of enlistment of young people with interest, passion and help give them the necessary exposure which will help them to discover their boxing

“Schools are involved in what we are doing and that is why we have invited school children to come and have the feel of the practical aspect of boxing and we are certain that with the POCACOV OGBE BOXING Tournament, we will have a wider network and means of catching them young.”

He pointed out that “the gap of self discovery will be bridged through POCACOV activities and it will motivate children/Young minds to develop interest in boxing. The Energies of the Young minds are great and there is need for it to be properly utilised in the positive and we are confident that the game of Boxing and Other Sporting events will help us to achieve this.

Amaraizu also highlighted that more discoveries will be a boost towards restoring Nigeria Glory in Boxing considering Nigeria’s age-long positive boxing history and pedigree in the continent and internationally.

“Getting young minds that will graduate and become champion in their various categories will be a boost towards sustaining Nigeria’s Boxing Pedigree.”

He however, expressed displeasure with the absence of Nigeria Boxing Contingent at the Just concluded 2020 Tokyo Olympic.
