Ogiame Atuwatse, III, the Olu Of Warri Kingdom, has urged Journalists in the state and the world at large to desist from irresponsible Journalism capable of destroying the peace of the society.

The revered traditional ruler, who was crowned on 21 August, 2021 gave the charge on Tuesday, 5th October, 2021, when the members of the Warri Correspondent Chapel, lead by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Okies Vickies paid him a courtesy visit to formally congratulate him on his new status and also seek partnership with him.

The Olu urged media practitioners in to desist from irresponsible Journalism, encouraging them to always report nothing but the truth at all times.

The Monarch, while commending the role of Journalism as the fourth estate of the realm, reminded them the words of late Steve Jobs who said, the “most powerful person in the world are story tellers”.

“Initially I didn’t know the meaning but now I do. Those who control what media establishments say are the powerful people.

“For a gathering of story tellers; Journalists to come and want to partner with us, you are doing us a great service and we really appreciate that.

“The way the world is today the internet is both a blessing and a curse. The information tool, if not well used, can wreak havoc.”

In attendance during the visit were palace chiefs and some members of royal family, chief Solomon Areyinka, chief Johnson Amstseru leghe, chief Brown Mene, chief Bedi Gawa, and a host of others.
