Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has said Nigerians are not bothered where their next President will come from but are hopeful of a leader desirous of addressing the challenges facing the nation.

Atiku stated this in his brief remarks at the 94th National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the party in Abuja on Thursday.

This contradicts the position of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate in 2014 l who ditched the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC, because they refused to respect the zoning arrangement that exists in the party.

But making a 360 turn, Atiku now believes that “PDP has the right to determine how the party should be run and Nigerians have the right to determine how the country should be governed.

According to him, “the problem of Nigerians has never been where the President comes from.”

Atiku is one of those angling to contest for president in 2023 and the recommendation of Governor Ugwuanyi’s led zoning committee is threatening this ambition of Waziri who has been contesting for the prime job since 2007.

It’s left for the NEC of the party to ratify the recommendation of the zoning committee and meeting to determine that is underway.
