The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, wasn’t spared by the wind of parallel Congresses which characterised the process across the entire country today.

The state witnessed two congresses which produced two chairmen for the party in the state. While one of the congresses produced only a Chairman without other accompanying executives, the other congress produced chairman and other members of his state executives.

In one of the Congresses held at the party’s secretariat, GRA Enugu, Comrade AC Ude emerged the chairman after a keen contest which was concluded around 9:45PM through open secret ballot.

Our correspondent who was at the venue to monitor the process reported that Ude emerged the winner with 782 votes, beating his closest rival, Dr. Charles Chukwu, who garnered 202 votes, Chief Benson Eze came a distant third with 142 votes.

Chief Anike Nworga was elected as the Deputy Chairman while Eva Asadu emerged as the Secretary of the party, while Hon. Chuks Patrick Owo emerged as the Publicity Secretary with 367 votes, beating his opponent, Hon. Kelvin Okenwa who scored 341, Hon Mrs Favour Asogwa emerged the woman leader with 503 votes, to defeat Lolo Queen Nwankwo who scored 408 votes.

Also elected by the Congress are; Chuks Adibe, Treasurer, Dr. Oby Aji, Financial Secretary, Chinedu Ede, Organising Secretary, Chukwudi Igwe, Legal Adviser, Sunny Umabi, Zonal Vice Chairman, Enugu East.

Others are Mba Josephine, Zonal Women Leader, Enugu West, Constance Aroh, Zonal Women leader, North, amongst others.

The Congress Committee Chairman, Akaya Jonathan commended the party members for trusting the process and playing by the process which led to the seamless exercise.

However, another congress of the party held at Destiny Event Centre produced Barr. Ugochukwu Agballa, a former Commissioner and guber candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as the chairman of the party.

Our correspondent gathered that the parallel Congress produced only Agballa (who recently joined the party) as no other position was announced by the faction to have emerged from the Congress.
