Gunmen have reportedly stormed Bagana village, Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing at least six residents and razing several houses.

The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, is the second within a month in Omala LGA of Kogi.

Sources disclose that hundreds of residents were forced to seek refuge in neighboring communities after the incident.

According to Eons Intelligence, the assailants went straight to the House of one Chief Salifu Anyebe and set it ablaze, before torching other houses. Chief Salifu Anyebe is one of the traditional rulers, whose stool was upgraded to third class a fortnight ago by the present administration.

Reports indicate that the gunmen also shot three persons, including one Madam Achebe Alih, popularly known as Mama Teacher to death.

The early morning ambush prompted locals, who were just returning to the village after a similar attack, to scamper for safety in the bushes.
