Deji Adeyanju, a former youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the party does not have any serious presidential candidate from the southern region of Nigeria.

Mr. Adeyanju, the Convener of the Concerned Nigerians Group (CNG) made the comment in response to a post by Osita Chidoka, a former aviation minister and Corp Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Chidoka who was writing form the venue of the ongoing PDP National Convention said: “At the PDP convention Atiku, Tambuwal, Bala Mohammed, kwankwaso, Saraki dominated the Arena with Presidential posters. No Igboman even shared leaflet.”

In response to this observation by Chidoka, Adeyanju said: “PDP does not have any serious presidential candidate in the South.”

“All their serious candidates are in the North. I don’t know why Osita is disturbing himself,” Adeyanju wrote via his known Twitter handle on Saturday.

The Convener of the Concerned Nigerians Group (CNG) was reacting to a Facebook post by Osita Chidoka, a former aviation minister and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) corps marshall who said presidential posters of Atiku Abubakar, Aminu Tambuwal, Bala Mohammed, Rabiu kwankwaso and Bukola Saraki dominated the PDP Convention Arena at the Eagle Square, Abuja. Chidoka had pointed out that “no Igboman even shared leaflet”.

PDP is currently holding her National Convention at Abuja where about 3,600 delegates is expected to elect the National Working Committee (NWC).

Majority of the positions will be by consensus. Only three positions will be contested for.

“At the moment, we’re making efforts to reconcile most of our contestants so that we can streamline them to have a better Convention, which will be hitch free and deepened our chances for 2023. Most of the positions as at today, except for three will not be contested.

“At the moment we are talking to those that are contesting for the Office of the Deputy National Chairman (South) and the those that are contesting for Office of the Auditor, and those that are contesting for Office of the Youth Leader,” the Chairman of Convention National Committee and governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri said on 29th October.
