For some fans that were at Cubana Club Enugu in the early hours of Sunday, 21st November, the action of Hazel Oyeze Onou, popularly known as Whitemoney was quite shocking and different from who they thought they know during the biggest reality TV show in Africa- Big Brother Naija season 6.
The 29-year-old Enugu-born singer is in Enugu for the first time after emerging the winner of Big Brother Naija season 6 and has been the rave of the town since this weekend.
He has also been hosted by the Youth friendly Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who conferred on him ‘Ambassador of Enugu State in Creative Arts’.
Whitemoney was at the club as part of the programmes lined up for his homecoming where he’s expected to meet what other housemates and wind-down with his fans.
JOURNALIST101 gathered that the management of the club invited their friends which included politicians and some government appointees to make the night memorable for the rave of the moment.
However, the action of Whitemoney left a sour taste in the mouth of a lot of people when he outrightly disrespected a Federal Lawmaker who was one of the guests invited by the club owners.
A source at the club told our correspondent that when Whitemoney was told that the member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Offor Chukwuegbo was in the club and its proper he goes to greet him, the obviously irritated TV star said the lawmaker should come and greet him instead.
This left a lot of fans that heard what happened in the club vexed. Some said this wasn’t the humble character they voted for in the #BBNaija House.
“It’s now very clear that he went to the house to play the game to win the cash. The character he showed in the house endeared him to a lot of us, but with what happened here, I feel I was just a pawn in a Chess game,” an angry fan said.
“Mazi obviously deceived some of us while in the House, Offor is a public office holder and going to greet him won’t reduce him (Whitemoney). By age, the lawmaker is his senior so what’s the pride for?
“This is a show of pride and is wrong at this stage of his stardom, if he continues like this, people will distance themselves from him,” said another person.
Efforts to reach the lawmaker and the managers of Whitemoney to get their reactions on what transpired at the club were unsuccessful.
Also at the club were other BBNaija house mates and Frood from season 5, the special assistant to Enugu State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Monday Diamond and other political appointees.
